Baby and Kids Extravaganza Hits Melbourne

Written by: Nitty Brown

The week leading up to one of Melbourne’s largest Baby and Kids extravaganza, Huckleberry Market Extravaganza has called for the exhibitors to take up their preparation to the final stages. Excitement looms amongst the exhibitors as this is a first for many of them, to take part in such a large expo.

The event will be held this weekend, March 15th and 16th at the Melbourne Showgrounds, and will feature a huge range of handmade and boutique businesses with also a special visit from Jimmy Giggle as well as free talks with Pinky McKay and Natalie Kringoudis. There will be heaps of workshops and loads of fun activities for the kids.

Huckleberry Market founder Amy Chia came up with the concept of the extravaganza to help these small business owners, to help them get their brands out there to a large audience.
Amy has always been in tuned with her stallholders always putting their needs first to help them make their market day successful. “That is how she is, goes that extra step and in return she has the loyalty of her stallholders who are willing to stand by her and make this event a success” says Nitty Brown founder of Markets and Community, a website that lists and promotes markets, events, stallholders and online businesses.

Preparations began for Bek from Sweet Bubba as soon as she heard about the expo, she knew she had to be there and can’t believe how fast time has come around. Sweet Bubba will have some gorgeous Amber teething jewellery, Silicone Mumma jewellery and excited to finally have some gorgeous wooden teethers in stock, while Natasha from Mircat started planning and getting organised after the new year and it has been go go go since then and will have a huge range of hair accessories and clips.

A new comer to all of this hype is Amanda from Fairytales Boutique who managed to launch her website in time for the event, a very overwhelmed Amanda has never attended something to this scale so she is unsure what to expect but has been planning since September, with many hiccups & changes along the way but thinks she is good to go.

As a first large event for these businesses, Bek says “I am so excited and nervous for the Extravaganza, my first real event of a huge scale. Lots of hard work and planning has gone into making a great event for many other WAHP’s (Work At Home Parents) to showcase their handmade and boutique businesses.” And Natasha says “A few weeks ago I was in total panic as this is by far the biggest market I have ever done. But over the last week have become a lot calmer about it all as I get more organised.”

The girls have got a special offer at the extravaganza where MirCat have the offer of spend $30 get a free hair clip spend $50 get 2 free hair clips. Sweet Bubba are offering on all Silicone jewellery – BUY 1 item, GET 2nd item at 1/2 price. Fairytales Boutique has a promotion of 10% OFF storewide along with a free gift with all purchases.
